In the framework of the MATA programme, the College of Europe organises a “High-Level Lecture on Transatlantic Affairs” during each academic year.

  • High-Level Transatlantic Lecture by David O’SULLIVAN: “The Transatlantic Relationship and its Significance for the European Union” (26 September 2019)
    Organised in the framework of the Master of Arts in Transatlantic Affairs (MATA), jointly offered by the College of Europe and , the lecture was delivered by David O’SULLIVAN, former Ambassador of the European Union to the United States (2014-2019). He has also previously held the posts of Director General of the European External Action Service (EEAS), Secretary General of the Commission and Head of Cabinet of President of the Commission Romano PRODI. In March 2019, the Commission appointed David O'SULLIVAN as Special Advisor to the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude JUNCKER, for EU-US relations.
     
  • High-Level Transatlantic Lecture by Heather A. CONLEY: “Transatlantic relations and global order in the 21st century” (10 April 2019)
    The College of Europe organised its second High-Level Lecture on Transatlantic Affairs, with the support of the United States Mission to the European Union. The lecture was delivered by , a senior vice president for Europe, Eurasia, and the Arctic and director of the Europe Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (). She has previously served as deputy assistant secretary of state in the Bureau for European and Eurasian Affairs, United States Department of State, and as executive director of the Office of the Chairman of the Board at the American National Red Cross.
     
  • High-level Lecture on Transatlantic Affairs by Dr Hans BINNENDIJK: “The Future of Transatlantic Relations” (22 March 2018)
    The College of Europe organised its first High-Level Lecture on Transatlantic Affairs on 22 March 2018, with the support of the United States Mission to the European Union. The lecture was delivered by Dr Hans BINNENDIJK, who is a renowned US expert of transatlantic relations and currently a Senior Fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). He is former Vice President for Research of the National Defense University and Theodore Roosevelt Chair in National Security Policy.
